Nate's
Story
Here’s the story . . .
Well
first I guide on Lac Seul. I was waiting for my buddy to get off work,
so I told him I was just going to troll down the shore line a ways and
in 45 minutes I’ll be back to get him for the night bite. I got down the
rock wall I was trolling and had about 20 minutes still till he got off.
So, I moved into a nice bay flat as glass to cast a little while I
waited and then I looked over at a reef I fish and seen a nice ripple
that would give me a nice drift down the side of it. So I pull up and
about ten casts into the spot I had a big boil about 15 yards out felt
the weight and set it and just kept reeling. She stayed down the whole
way up to the boat and then came up with her mouth open and just
thrashing. I played her at the boat for a few minutes then went to get
her in the net and the back hooks on the cowgirl got hooked in the top
of the net.
Now I
was freaking because I knew how big it was, so I held on to the net and
my rod in one hand then reached my arm in the water under her and
flipped her in the net. I set up the camera before I pulled her out of
the net, took the measurement and then turned on the camera. Yeah it was
a little longer than I was hoping to have her out of the water, but
everything felt like slow motion. I did go back out for a few hours
after I got her too. I did see her again about 150 yards or so away from
where I got her a week later she came right up to the boat on a bulldawg.
Well
there’s the story – enjoy!
